I am a fifth-year Ph.D. candidate in the Counseling Psychology program at Teachers College, Columbia University, working with Dr. Marie L. Miville. I am receiving specialized training through my doctoral program's concentration in Bilingual Latinx Mental Health and Teachers' College-wide advanced certificate in Sexual, Gender, and Women Project.
My research takes a multicultural approach to understand how trauma impacts the mental well-being of minoritized people - with a particular interest in the well-being of Latina, Black, and Indigenous Women of Color.
As a cognitive-behavioral clinician, I specialize in customizing treatment plans for patients with trauma histories and a readiness for change, beginning with mindfulness practices to enhance self-awareness, setting clear treatment goals, establishing a safe therapeutic alliance, exploring the interplay between thoughts, emotions, and bodily sensations to identify behavioral patterns, and incorporating adaptive skills training with a focus on grounding techniques for managing somatic responses in English and Spanish.
